Okay this is my first MPC purchase and I'm pretty much set on getting either a nice, used 2000xl or a new/newish 1000. I've tried to do as much research as I can, but I would love some input from this great community. Here's my pros/cons list so far:

1000**
-New model, so less physical wear/problems
-Greater amount of RAM, easier internal hard drive
-CF card reader already installed
-With JJOS can have a respectable operating system

so I know all of that, yet at the same time I can't help but feel a certain attraction to the 2000xl. So many of my idols have and still use this machine, so it must be doing something right. I also love its feel and larger size, feels less cramped. If anyone has any other opinions, especially on sampling and chopping samples on the 1000 vs the 2000xl, please feel free to comment.

Again, I appreciate your time and advice!

first of all.. get the newer one... but the cennection with USB thing as far as I know does nothing but let you drop stuff on the card. big deal. usb card readers cost a buck on ebay if your computer doesn't already have one.

and I dont know if the less physical wear thing is true about the 1k..

I would say that options and features should be your prime concern.

it's amazing how it makes you forget about all those 1k options and features all because of those fuc#ing pads... haha

I'd get the 1K with maxxed out memory and the JJ OS... this coming from a 2KXL user.

It's true. But a second hands 2kxl will probably die as quikly on you as a brand new 1k.
Question is for which one of these models it's easier to get by some replacement parts. And for how long u can still order them.
