MPC3000 makes a clicking noise

Im havin a problem with my MPC makin this continuous clicking noise out of nowhere sometimes. It sounds like a fan is hitting something as it rotates or something, but the weird thing is that the noise I hear from the machine interferes with the metronome sound when im in a play mode (the metronome drops in and out in sync with the noise I hear out of the machine). The actual machine itself works fine but its pretty f*ckin distracting and causes me some concerns. Any opinions?

Okay, I'm not clear on whether this sound is coming from inside the case or if it is coming from the audio bus? In other words, is it a mechanical sound or an electronic sound?

The sound is mechanical and comes from the machine not the audio. Once again the clicking makes the metronome of the audio in play mode drop in and out. Its unpredictable what causes the sound because it seems to come on without warning at any time. I fell asleep with the MPC on one night and I just woke up to this noise.

If it were mine, I'd open up the case and look around inside to see what's making the noise.

you sure its the MPC? are there any nearby harddrives. Do you have a Zip drive in it? Those make an audible click when they are failing.
