the click you use can be vital if you track your mpc into your daw. if you really want the tightest timing and to preserve the feel you've worked so hard to get with swing, etc. and you want to use the digital outputs, then really tracking the mpc 1 track at a time is the way to go.
providing that you use 1 bar of count in from your metronome click to line them up in your daw later. this is where it's crucial to have A SQUARE WAVE with no distortion as your click tone. because then, when you open it up in your wave editor, you can trim right up to the edge of the square wave, which if it's a clean square wave, would make it sample accurate,(44.100 thousandths of a second!). that should be tight enough!
in comparison, it makes synching with midi a sick joke!

That's pretty cool, where did you come up with that trick? The two clicks I sampled from Cubase are square waves.

just make sure it's a clean square wave, the one from the casio vl tone is straight as a ruler. it does'nt work too good with the analogue inputs because they introduce distortion that screws up the wave form,but with the digital inputs it's perfect. it's totally made the world of difference in tracking the mpc.
