Newbie ? : Easiest way to loop a wav

Hey guys, just bought an MPC 1000. One of the main reasons I got it was to trigger live loops I have in wav format. I got tired of running my laptop to a mixer and then to the house mixer...too many complications.

Enter the MPC that came in the mail today.

I know there are many ways to do this, but after loading up the wav file, what's the easiest thing to do to have a seperate entity for each wav?

Currently I have a Program the holds the Sequence that holds the wav file (BPM matches wav BPM) , but 1) Would like an easier quick setup if possible 2) Can't change tempo/pitch of wav because of the set BPM of the Sequence.

hope that makes sense.

I wondered if I could just make the thing loop over and over in TRIM mode but that didn't seem to work without holding down a pad.

By holding down pad 13 located top-left while in trim_mode: you are able to constantly loop your sample. How do you like your MPC 1k, any other questions.

for your question reguarding the Beats per Minute question, your may press the sixteen levels function, directly under pad bank B. You are then prompted to select your preference on what you want your 16 pads to perform: choose tune. As far as calculating BPM I'd recomend getting a BPM counter. I haven't found a function in the mpc 1k that automatically syncs, or detects beats per minute, you can get close with the 16 levels of tune though. having my samples bpm'd is key for me, another way to adjust your bpm's are with the q-link slider.press mode then, select slider, select tune on your slider of preference and then your able to adjust the tune (pitch) of your sample. Read your user's manual, but if you have questions don't hesitate to ask

Perhaps I didn't ask my question correctly cause I did manage to figure those things out in an afternoon.

I do have the BPM of the wave files, that's how I match the sequencer. I just throw the wav file on beat 1 and it loops fine.

But I can't seem to change the tempo/pitch/tune from there because it's "locked" to the sequence BPM. Changing the sequence BPM of the sequence doesn't change the wav.

Using QLink Sliders doesn't work, once again because the sequence BPM is set already...it won't sync with the wave.

Remember, I'm using this live, so let's say I start a song, it's too fast..gotta slow it down a notch on the fly!

you cant change tempo and have the loop sync with the mpc,,, you could chop up your loops and then just map them on mpc make a midi file on your computer, transfer it via usb play them on the mpc being able to change tempo.
