Quickest way -auditioning sounds-recording a drum sequ

I am putting my newly aquired MPC4k thru it's paces. I noticed that I could record a drum sequence whilst still in the sample page.
Inspiration can be lost when trying to assign drum sounds to programs B4 recording.

I have an S5000 and record the following way:

I'll assign all my sounds to one program and record. After that I'll copy the program by as many times as I have sounds. I'll then reassign each program to one output. Quite a hassle. MPC60II allows you to jump right in after loading sounds.

**My question is - is there an even easier way to just jump in and record drums and worry about assigning sounds to separate programs and stuff until later?

**Also is there a way to assign permanent numbers to the drum pads? I want to make the first pad in Pad A in default to "1", "0" or lowest note on the keyboard without reassigning every time I turn the machine on. Dice or no dice?

**Finally, this might be related to my 2nd question. I noticed that when I audition samples I have to switch to the "C" section pads to get the natural sound of the sample. I dont think my 16 levels key was lit. I would like to have them sound naturally on the pad A section. Thanks in advance.

~~~Nope, but its pretty fast to load up programs/multis once you get the hang of it.

~~~You can do this once, save the program as a template in its own folder. When ever you start a new joint you will first need to load that template.Now when you save the song with that template you will need to give the program/multi a new name and folder so you don't mess with your original template.
