Connection between not-trigger-problem and non AKAI RAM ????

Ditto what Madcap said. Had Akai chip since day 1 and never experienced any of these problems in months of heavy daily use.

Only prob I've had with machine was case not lying flat when new. Easily fixed with 10 mins of manual case reshaping!

Must be hard working with these problems you all mention. I agree that the AKAI memory is very expensive but it's possible that it's saved a few of us from months of frustration.

I never even turned the machine on w/ standard memory...and as I posted earlier, my machine works flawless (except for the known issues that have been fixed in updates)

does this point the blame towards a possible fault in the internal memory(and this mis-step could also be of the same nature in the cheaper RAM)

of course that would suck and be the fault of AKAI, but could be allieviated by the mem upgrade.

If its an issue with the internal mem being defective (an IF akai recognizes this) it would seem that it would be cheaper for them to send out 128 upgrades than to have the units shipped back....fixed and shipped back to you.

The bummer for those who used non-Akai ram upgrade, is that it may have voided your warranty. But Im not sure that they would be able to know that.

If it was a buggy OS, we'd all have it. So it can't be solely a buggy OS. Therefore hardware must be a factor.

Everybody knows that typing solely in capitals is as played out as MC Hammers crazy pants in 2004 so your caps lock must be stuck loo2004ep. I've found that removing the stuck key - e.g., caps lock - and cleaning the contact works.

Hmm I got the OEM Mem upgrade (bought the unit used) and I still have samples that occasionally drop out. So I doubt it's a memory thing. I do notice it is more prone to dropping samples when the MPC has been on for quite awhile. There are several short sessions (<1 hour) that I've had where everything worked great.

I've had my 1k for about a month now... And, I haven't had any troubles so far with sample drops or the lagging 16th's... I even looped a song for about 45min[b4 I got sick of it hehe] with no probs showing up... it also doesn't run hot[I've had it on for almost 8hrs and it only gets warm]... I installed the Akai 128mb ram upgrade b4 even turning it once... and I'm running OS1.05.

It'd be nice to know what everone else is running, so maybe we might be able narrow the problem down. Unless Akai is already on the ball
