I don't know about your feelings about the new control setups in Trim Mode and on the Main Screen, but as far as I am concerned, it's driving me maaaaaaaaaaaaaaad N U T S!!!

Here's why:

1) Trim Mode: The controls in there have been f'ed up, since the regions selecter was implemented. Before that, you could use the Arrow Buttons to navigate through the slices, while the cursore remained on the field of the start OR End point of a slice (stayed on "st" if you used the left arrow or stayed on "end" if you used the right arrow). This was perfect: you just flipped through the slices and changed the start or end points with ease. Since the region selector has been put in there, you can only handle the start points this way. Totally messes up the workflow. Who needs a region selecter anyway? I never use more than 16 chops and it's not so hard to skip through these chops...
Also, the new functionality of the Pads in Trim Mode are even mor disturbing: I always hit the the sample via pad 1... Okay, no big deal so far... BUT: now PAD 1 automatically selects the start point of the sample (Pad 3 selects the end point). Okay, here's what's happening all the time: I trigger the sample and I'm thinking: "okay, the enpoint needs some work" >> I place the cursor old school style on the end point field and hit Pad... aaawwwwww WTF? The cursor jumps to the start point.... HAPPENS ALL THE TIME... even the pads above are layed out this way... this is f'ing with my nerves badly and effects my mood. Sometimes, while making a beat I'm like, ef disss isht, I don't want to continue...

My Suggestion: Bringing the Regions Selector in the Upper Row, so it's no longer in the way (could be accessed via SHIFT+up Arrow. Or use anotherkey+Datawheel to bring up the region selecter. would be great

2) BUT IT'S GETTING WORSE::: In Main Screen, I used to select a Pad by Hitting it, selcted the sample field and turned the DATA Wheel to audition/assign samples to the Pad. I just held the pad and turned the Data wheel. Lightnig fast, wonderful Idea, great workflow (besides the sideeffect of changing the sample accidentally sometimes). But WTF has happened to this isht Now???????????????? If you hold the Pad and turn the DATA Wheel, this mofo starts changing Sequences, now????!! NOW W T F is that all about? I want to to audition/assign samples and end up changing sequences in a sample assign field? WTF? I ended up programming my hi hats in some other Sequence and isht because of that... I went berzerk at some point.

>> Overall this isht gets me so angry at times that I'm really thinking, I've gotta go back to OS 2. Especially with the whole q-link situation in mind: I used to assign swing and shift on it in the main screen. It's okay, that it's working in grid edit now, but it's not as intuitive. The only things that keep me from going back is the filters, eqs, and quantize strngth...

I wonder how you deal with these issues – do they bother you?

Nice rant dude

1. I'm also having a hard time getting used to the new preview controls in Trim, which is crazy since because I'm using the MPC a lot right now. I do still believe that JJ implemented a great idea, and it will become intuitive. Think about it-- you don't need the cursor AT ALL to change from start to end point now.

2. Agree. I can't believe ALL PADS were chosen to trigger sequence change shortcut. This shortcut was requested for use in Grid mode, I think-- only works in Main. We should come to an agreement on how to change the shortcut and all email JJ a similar request.

See the following thread viewtopic.php?f=25&t=116140

cosign on this.

this is a disaster & just goes to show that JJ PROGRAMS the MPC but he doesn't USE the MPC. big difference. if he was a user he would see that this shortcut just causes major chaos.

i think that:
MODE + ARROW UP/DOWN is the best to change sequences.
MODE + ARROW LEFT/RIGHT to change the simult sequence.

there's no way you are gonna trigger that accidentally.

but if he can't get the shortcut to work while the sequencer is running, then there is no need to have it in there at all.

Agreed!

The advantage of using the data wheel versus the arrow is you get faster scrolling but this would work. This or the pad bank would be best. Really though, any button that does not switch to a new screen and is not already assigned with the wheel would work.

Seeing as how I'm still new to the update it is annoying to say the least, however I agree with elevated wholeheartedly in that it will become intuitive. As he pointed out you don't need to use the cursor, thus saving time in the long run.

jj should concentrate on changes/improovements the users are asking for .last update forces many osxl users to change or relearn their workflow in trimscreen or mainscreen. only because jj thinks it might be an improovement. wasted energy.
jj should regularly request feedback from mpc-forums moderator and other sources. maybe this is already happening.?
i don't think many people mailed him to change the trim mode..

Just throwing this out there--

Once I came across a Japanese web forum for MPC's... I think I was actually searching for JJ's name and ended up there. He is probably getting feedback from those cats instead of dealing with us and the language barrier..

wow all that sounds annoying.. but whats really annoying is, having just coped my 2500 and wanting to get into JJ OS from the bs akai default joint.. I gotta pay 113 bucks to experience that agravation that all of you are.. when in theory All I want right now is to OS1 or OS2. Why cant I just pay for OS2 and use just it?

I gotta pay for all three joints to use just one now.. it seems like the old way was better.
I was studying the os comparison chart in detail earlier, and most of the new features of OSXL that are not in the previous OS2, are ones Im not really interested in(minus 1or 2). The features I am most interested in are in OS2! HOWEVER MuFukn EVER.. I cant even try OS2 unless I have a OS1 password, although I can try 3.09 free(and even save), I can try OS1 without save as we know AND (enter drum roll...>here) I can even try OSXL. But no OS2??? strange.

I aint trying to take anything away from the Japenese Jenius cause from what I have seen and tried so far, WOW.. its way way dope.. but man.. the frustration I gotta go thru JUST SO I CAN HOPEFULLY experience the frustration that YALL are going thru.. is wack
LOL

This shiit is just nitpicking... if JJ OS wasn't worth it to us, we'd be using something else

actually you really ARE only paying for OS2.
you have to have OS1 in order to install OS2.
so at $113 you are pretty much getting OS-XL thrown in for free.

now if you just wanted OS1, then yeah, i'd agree i'd be pretty bummed too.
but since you said you wanted OS2 you're paying just about the same amount and getting XL for free.

(compare getting all three os's on the 1000 which would be $162...)

yeah I was being sarcastic as well as sincere at the same time.. but I haev NO DOUBT that I will cough up the doe for osxl. but like EVERYTHING else I buy I still wish it was LESS. LOL

I NEVER pay full price for ANYTHING. I hustle every dollar down I can.
In some cases stuff actually apreciates in value. WHen I copped my Yamaha HS80's I paid 220 each when they were supposed to be 349 each, and now they are 399 each.. so 800 a pair now with no haggle, and I paid 440 a year ago.
same with my HS50's.. 199 now/400 a pair I paid 250 for my pair.. all new in boxes from GC..

I could go on.. but im off topic now, and it would take to long cause I never pay full price for ANYTHING, and not bragging, but I have a decent amount of gear.. LOL

BUT JJ OSXL is gonna cost me full shot.. Nothing lasts forever i guess ;)
