You might want to look into Traktor as well. If I ever go the DVS route It'd be a top contender.

yo torq looks like the next best thing , ive been looking into these and i like both they would be up there with me, but i much rather have the control on my decks really, but hey to each his own right, i just found out about TORQ from you post it sounds like it's going to be hot.

but like bedouin said Traktor is my choice over serato too.

Always spinned records or was involved with djing. Never did a gig. Eventhough a lot of people ask me to dj. I don't even have a set atm, I practice at a friends house sometimes, just for the fun. Beatmaking is what I do daily. So yes and no.

Started collecting records in the mid 70's

Began deejaying in mid '86 (2 mis-matched Pioneer tables w/borrowed GLI mixer)

Got BD1's in '87

Got 1200's '88

Started beat makin' in '89 (7 sec sampler w/two tape decks)

Started beat makin' with real equipment in '97 (Ensoniq EPS w/SP-1200 combo)

Took the beat makin up a notch a year later (added Akai S5000, Mackie 24 trk board, outboard efx)

Stopped deejaying parties/clubs & went straight mixtape in '00

Elevated equipment in 2001 to final set up (PC w/Cakewalk Sonar, Akai S5000, MPC 3000, ASR-10, EPS, Mackie 24 trk board, etc)

Now, I very rarely play/buy/keep any of the new records, and the beat makin' bug is not biting me like it once was.

i agree... it's like learning karate before you go into mma... i never dj'd, and it will never discourage me from pushing forth and trying to learn more everyday... i do find myself wishing i had that experience. it would have been a tremendous difference in the end product.

i fell of there for a min bout 1-21/2 yrs of maken loops,but i played the turntables every so often, but i'm back on it again, it's just hard to get the time in cause i got a small boy to chase around the house and knock into place,(baby to watch ) that takes up most of my time and i just dont have the youngness to sstay up late like i use to, but i'm working at it,
how long you been out the loop? just take a few yrs off ,it's like riding a bike when you on hardware

I started out spinning d&b in 1999, about 3 years ago i was spinning out, but i had to spin break beats, cause the bars i was spinning at would flip their sh*t when i would throw the d&b on, ive been making beats since like 2000, but it was drum and bass/jungle beats i made all the way up until 4 years ago, i went threw a 1 year writers block, and when i finally snapped out of it i started writing hip hop, I dont really dj anymore, i havent spun any vinyl in 2 years, making beats all the way..

Not really out of the loop. I'm still buying records to sample here and there. It's mostly my CPU. I used to use it strictly for music, but about a yr ago, I installed a wireless adapter card, and ever since then it will only boot up when I turn it on, hit F1, and boot "last known good configuaration". Even this doesn't work half the time on the 1st try. I uninstalled the card but it's still doesn't boot up correctly. A pain in the ass to boot up the cpu. I want to buy a new hard drive, temporarily transfer all my good files, and reinstall WinXP. I'm thinking this should fix the problem.

^^yeah i had a similar prob with my comp too,i was going to put it in the studio ,had everything working fine when it was hooled up then i turned it off came nack the next day and it wouldnt start up any more my HD took a shlt,now i just got to clean up my VS hd,but it takes time time i rather spend playing with my gear or spining

trying to make that move to the digital arena

not sure 1g maybe,i dont remember the specs it's been yrs since i read it, i know i have two partitions and i can put alot of music if there not in stereo tracks that just eats up so much time on my drive's,
a few months ago i was checking on that trying to get more room n it too,i was going to go the zip drive route but theres not much you can save on 250mb zips i run out of space sometimes on my MPC zips. yeah not sure where to get a bigger drive but i have read it dont matter how big it is it will only read up to a certian point in the drive.even if partitioned. but thats just for my vs 880 not sure bout your you got a higher model right ?

shoot yeah i feel you on that D,having to clear stuff off the drive sometimes becomes a pain . i was hoping to use my comp with the vs that way i can store tracks faster,but my comp i was using for teh studio took a dump and i'm out and trying to find another one but not really searching ,i think i can do without it, all tho i would love to have my midi controller hooked up so i can play the piano.

I've been using serato live once a week for 9 months straight, zero issues
I've seen both torq and tractor fuk up and glitch
