MPC's will die because NuAkai is releasing crappy MPC's; not because there are 'better' alternatives. Their MPC's aren't selling too well, so they're joining the: cheap, plastic, midi controller market.

And these will sell because, well.... Which one would someone rather buy: an overpriced crappy product or a cheap crappy product?

The first two products are nothing more than pieces of gear marketed to compete with the Korg Nano line. I don't think I'll be tossing out my Mpc and replacing them with these products anytime soon.

I wouldn't mind giving a listen to those RP8's... Frequency range seems nice.

You realize companies like Roland/Boss and Yamaha pump out machines that probably have a much smaller market than the MPC even? Just because MPCs aren't selling like they were in 1995 doesn't really mean anything. Will some models get axed? Maybe. The thing is Akai just released the XR20 not long ago; if they were taking a huge loss on seemingly niche hardware like drum machines and samplers they wouldn't have bothered bringing something like that out . . .

Every time I go into Guitar Center there's some kids, usually teenage, banging on an MPC. Again, I don't see them going anywhere.

That MPK61 looks nice. But why can't they build an MPC into something like that? Even something simple. In fact, I'd even use that thing with my MPC500 if it was battery powered.

kinda like those I-pod dock DJ mixers, but, at the same time, u would just have to get a midi controler and conect it to ur mpc, what's the point of the dock?

would get one if they had real midi

the only way to survive for akai is to join hands with Roger Linn again. Or even better, akai should sell the mpc concept to roger linn.
