MPC 2500 HELP WITH HD AND RAM

Hey wutsup. Ive had my mpc for awhile and am a mad noob and am just getting back into it. A 2500 BTW. I just bought a INFINEON 256 MB 133Mhz SDRAM PC133 SODIMM 256MB 144 PIN For my RAM. My Questions are does that RAM look alright? AND, i know this will sound so stupid, but what the **** is the difference between the ram and the hard drive? now that im updating my RAM, Is that good enough? Why should i update my hard drive too? I know the ram allows you to sample more and have more memory so it doesnt say "insufficient memory" so you dont gota delete samples to make room. So what does the increased hard drive do? Can someone PLEASE clear this up for me in understandable english for a dumb noob like me to get. I bought the MPC BIBLE and had know idea id need all these upgrades to do what i want. And even though its suppose to be clear, He said it in a pretty confusing way. DO I NEED BOTH UPGRADES OR WHICH ONES IF NOT ? DAMMIT.... YOUR HELP IS GREATLY **** APPRECIATED. if you have no clue, why didn't you buy a 1000 instead?
and why do you buy first and ask later?

ok, let's say the mpc is a supermarket. the harddrive would be the shelves with all the products (samples). there are like 10 gb shelves with only a few products and there are 80 gb shelves with everything you'll ever need.
you can't take a shelf to the checkout, so you need a cart where you put in everything you need. that's your ram. the bigger it is, the more you can buy. got it?

Well I did know that the ram makes it easier to load samples i was just wondering why buy the hard drive when you could get a external one instead. i purchased alot of stuff a few years back cause im mainly a MC. Ive just recently pulled everything out and started trying to get into producing more since all the beats ive heard lately from around my area arent that original or what i liked. I appreciate the help and trying to explain it to me ahah even though you sounded like a bit of a ****. Theres still lots of shit i dont understand. i have no clue what jjos is and why it is so great, or where to get it. And for not buying the mpc 1000 first, i just wanted the 2500 because i could afford it at the time, might as well get it over the 1000. everyone on the forums has helped alot and i appreciate it. could use some more help still haha
