last week at the NAMM convention in Nashville,Akai products were on display at the Alesis / Numark booth. I was told that the only thing that has changed hands is the distribution.. wich has been a problem for akai for a while. Most companies seem to benefit from moves like this, so I am hoping that the same happens for akai.
more product available = more sales = more budget etc.......
Im not sure what acquired what but it didn't seem like the Alesis / Numark merge had any downside or slow period although things could be different for akai, as they could be an entirley differnt sort of arrangement.
As far as I can see, the 1000s are in fair supply, and the 2000xl should be made more available with in a few months.. I doubt that things will get any more scarce than they have been recently and it hasn't bee that hard to get em in.
