http://mpcmaid.sourceforge.net/

for those that DONT know..

I have THOUSANDS of samples that I have been putting off going thru and mapping to programs.
first with my yamaha A4000 cause the work flow is way too slow. and now in the last week since I got my 2500 I have had to spend more time mapping sounds into programs than actually recording tracks with em.

Enter MPC Maid.. Im sure some of you.. if not most of you may have heard of this.. but damn.. I hadn't..

now I can drag 16 waves at a time to pads and auto map em so I can at least have them all assigned to pads to load the prgms and preview the samples rather than auditioning single samples one at a time from the load menu and then mapping them.. or even loading a folder of samples and then mapping thos.. ,
Now I just load up the programs Id creating with MPC Maid and rearrange and tweak from there.

But this is SOOOOO helpful.
for those that aint up on up.. I thought I would share.. Not to mention half of the apps I did find are all geared towards the 1000.

anyway Enjoy.. I am

God I love life.

whoa..

haven't seen that yet. What OS are you running?? On the site it talks about mapping filter and q-link params automatically according to model. Has anyone tried this with any of the JJ operating systems..

I have used it with the Akai OS 1.24, and JJOS 3.09 Free, and also tested the programs with JJ osxl.
And I'm pretty sure your asking about the mpc OS, but just in case your wondering about the app itself..
I'm running XP Pro.

And Yes you can map Q-link params.

but what I found is this..

originally when i first started using it I was just dragging one sample at a time to a pad on screen.
then I tried 4 at a time, and it gives you the option to auto place them consecutively.
then I though, lemme try 16.. which I did and it worked.. then that snowballed into dragging 64 samples which worked as well and applied them to all 4 banks.. The only downfall is they get applied to pads in the same order as the folder u dragged em from... but its GREAT when you have a ton of files in a ton of folders that you just wanna easily audition on the mpc.
Anyway, once you have the samples on the pads, you can assign all the values you want.. like volume, tuning, attack decay etc. but even hotter is you can copy the settings of one pad to ALL of them.

And lemme blow your mind a little here.. as if the above was not HOT enuff...

I personally have HUNDREDS of Folders with wave file samples that I need to Sort and audition and create programs for the mpc with. I was horrified at the thought of just dumping them to a CF card or dvd and having to bulk load samples and then ASSIGN each one individually to a pad to create a program. It would take WEEKS!

Enter BATCH PROGRAM CREATE. (Hold your head now before it explodes)

for example.. I had one folder called "Ol SKool Drum Machines" which had about 50 or sub folders in it, and those sub had more sub folders.. for example the path for one might look like.... "D:\Samples\Ol SKool Drum Machines\TR808\Kicks" and then snares, hats.. so on and so forth..
well previously I would just drag the contents of EACH sub folder or maybe groups of sub folders and then name and save the sounds from all of them as a .pgm file.

Well with batch create, you just highlight the root folder(ol skool drum machines in this case) and click ok.
MPC Maid then reads the contents of every file in every sub folder within the root you selected and creates a .pgm file in EVERY sub folder that has sounds in it. When I figured that out I almost nutted.. That will save me SO MUCH FOCKIN Time.
Give it a try.

A side note though.. As U may already know.. the mpc has a 16 character name limit.. so any samples with names longer than that will be truncated by mpc maid to 16 char. When you do a batch create you dont want that to happen, because u may end up with samples that have an identical name because the ends get cut off, and if that happens the mpc plays the same original sound for all of the files with the same truncated name.

The work around for this is to use a program to batch name change the files before you batch program create with mpc Maid.. OR just use the original drag and drop to pads method described above, and once you have your program all mapped and adjusted, use EXPORT instead of save.. When you drag the samples into mpc maid it will rename the files properly, and exporting them to a different folder saves the samples with their NEW names.

NOW, When you drag samples in, it automatically renames them, however for some reason when you just save the program in the location the samples were originally dragged from, the names dont change(the new names do NOT overwrite the original ones). You HAVE TO use 'Export' for the name changes to take effect.

Thats about as far as I have gone with this app seeing as how I have only had it for a day now.

Have fun!

plus Im just itchin for some1 to come back saying they put them tips to work so I know that they felt as elated as I still do..

I have had sounds just sittin in folders cause I aint had the time OR patience to sort em and drop em in programs..

Now.....

I think i know what your trying to explain. for noobs like me its a bit harder. for example i have no diea about jjOs or other OS's. What the hell do they do? do you ahve to buy them? or DL em? If you could try and explain a little bit more in depth for idiots like me trying to begin i would **** love it. also if you could check my other questions in the MPC 2500 Forum i just put it up today and its called MPC 2500 RAM + HD HELP or something around those lines. You guys are the best, people like me really appreciate the help from more advanced users like yall
thanks!

There's no MPC2500 setting, only 1000 and 500. Is the 1000 profile the same as a 2500 now that the 1000 got the Akai OS upgrade?

Yo Fam, That Batch Mode is the Truth!

Time saver like a mofo, and so easy to use. I did damage with this and a batch file name changer. lol Didn't know That this software was that powerful.

Being I'm a 2500/500 Owner, This is in my arsenal.

I'm good now.

i know right?

its too sick.. im saving so much time.. although I have had a few programs not load correctly and Im trying to troubleshoot it and figure out whats up.. its usually just the batched ones I have issues with.. If I make em by hand placing sounds specifically where I want em, and then export the folder with sounds and program to my CF card, Im good.

Also there are a couple other apps besides this one, although I like mpc Maid the best..
the others are mpc1000 pc and Bluebox.. between the two I like mpc1000 pc better tho..
try em out and post here what you thought about em.

PEACE

Like you said, Batch Mode will only change the long file names over 16 Characters when you export. Which is a good thing.

I see it will tell you that X amount of files were too long so it changed the names.

I was working with files already on my mpc HD so I just bust out the name changer anytime I encounter a Batch with long file names or export it to another folder then delete the original.

I used:

MPC Editor V3 (I love this one. I use it to Import .AKP files when working in Recycle)
MPC Pad 187 (Works well for Mac)
MPC 1000PC (Nice Layering Layout)
Blue Box (Never got into it, Don't like the Gui)

MPC Maid is what I'm using daily now tho. Can't wait to put my HD back in later. :D
