whats the most sample time a 60ii can have?

i was looking at the wikipedia page for mpcs.. for some reason..

and it says that the most memory u can put it 1.5mb (26.2 seconds) and i thought that its way too low..

so yeah im just wondering about that..

26.2? that is pretty good... i thought it would be less. my guess was 7 seconds of stereo.

Hmm, not really. If you do the math:

A hip-hop song is typically 80-100 BPM.
A hip-hop song is typically four bar loops.

Four bars (measures) in 4/4 would be 10 - 12 seconds.

It's not that bad!

yeah if you have it midi sequencing a machine with more memory..

I mean 7 seconds is enough for drum beats even some complex ones. But forget about making a beat with a string section, baseline and cymbals all in the machine.

But that must be decent though... the 60 is reserved for only drums and you do the rest on a 2500 or an s6000 or something.

It's just a file name. Jeez! Now stop complaining about the lack of memory and start making beats. 8)

26.2 is alot man, I had a 60II with stock os and mem for close to a year and even the 12 secs that had was more than enough. I upgraded to a 60I with, 3.10e, scsi, and max mem since then and I often have lots of time left. If memory is still a concern, grab something like an s950 that sounds really dope and gives you some more memory.

Man, I wish my SP-12 Turbo had 12 seconds of sampling time! It would probably take about half an hour to save/load the sounds, but still... 8)

Some of you are forgetting some tricks that can be used to conserve sample time like looping samples or recording samples that are sped up and then pitching them down in the sampler.
