Questions on The MPC 2000xl

whassup mpc-forums i just found you guys lol. tried askin alota of questions on futureproducers, im sure you guys know how that worked out. so im coming here ask the experts. i just got mine about a week ago. something i noticed is that the Nv fader is broke. but thats not a question.

just a few simple questions. thanks guys

ok here we go.

1. when i try to assign a one shot bass chromatically it assigns to all 4 banks and erases my sounds. how can i just assign a bank or do i have to assign a bank with the one shot and then change the pitch?

2. i have a M-audio delta Pre-amp in which i record samples from my PC into the MPC but i get this LOUD hiss, i have all the cords in right. i have the L/R output from the Pre-amp to the L/R of the recorder IN. its not a loud hiss but iits there and you can hear it.

3. and last but not least. how do i track my songs into my DAW. say i use cubase right?. what do i do? like do i record the sound from the mpc? or what. i havent figured that out yet maybe you guys can help me wit that. thanks

hit your manual up on this but you have to assign that sound to a different drum bank.

1.when u lay it out like that it creates a new program so hit program/ assign drum 2 then in the top left where it "newpgm" may be change it to the name of the chromatic sound you made then to double check yourself hit assign again hit drum 1 and Newpgm should be assigned and hit drum 2 and "sound" should be assigned hope that answers it

2. try hitting the "pad" button your box itll kill your sound by x- amount of db's so you will adjust from there. it should kill whatever hiss u get.

3. get a midi interface if you box dont got it and set it up in your daw. read the midi section in the mp's manual. it explains it all in the simplest manner.
now for tracking... UTILIZE THE TRACK MUTE FEATURE. dont do everything you have on one track otherwise its gonna be a long nite. do multi tracks. thats what they were made for...

i cant answer 1 however for 2 you should check your cables. are you usidg RCAs with adapters or guitar/TRS cables? i found that guitar cables are always better, but if you use RCAs just wiggle them from time to time. It also might be the gain on your MPC. Turn the sample up on your PC and then turn the gain down on your MPC. experiment with the recorded sound/monitoring and it might remedy your hiss. theres always a hiss when i record, but to the point where its not noticeable at all.

3. you need an audio interface, which is your m-audio delta, right? so you take your delta, your daw must recognized it via usb (or whatever it be). create a track on your DAW and record enable it. your audio outs on your MPC go into inputs 1/2 of your interface. to do two at a time, make two tracks both mono and pan each hard right and hard left (1 right, 2 left). for now if you dont have the 8 assignable outs then you can only do 2 at a time. i think thats how you do it. theres alot more info on this site man. just search for it. also, youtube has tons of instructional videos.

thanks man you really helped. it was just my samples were too low. and the gain was to high. now its fine, the hiss is not there unless something isnt playin thanks man. and on the daw info thanks again. got it all working

in the peripheals section check midi machine remote slave

also i dont remember if u need to do this but in the mtc generator section switch reader port to any so that pt will search all available hook ups
