im actually enjoying 2.0. nobody's perfect.

coming from the 2000 there were enough bugs with that thing with like a tenth of the capabilities. i believe akai will stay will this for a while.

if anything AKAI put some more time into the sample libraries and synth programs. it's like the perfect beast.

akai has developped a beautiful platform. any new device will only be an upgrade or extension, id hope anyways. they always find a way to up the ante. most likely at the point that they need more processing power and MORE QLinks. id pay for 4 more qlinks lol.

i just hope they continually refine and perfect the OS it has unbelievable power.

one thing i will note i keep finding that i am able to do so many of the things i wanted to do on the 2000 but couldnt with out pro tools. im in the zone for longer with the 5000 no doubt.

i have ten years of solid beat making on the 2000 and its worth the switch. AKAI please develop a way to open .aps files from the 2000 lol

Dont take this personal, but I dont believe ish. Unless YOU or your friend work there... Corporations dont have ethics. They say they do. Them musukkas will lie there ass off. I think Masada asked a tech about the OS and told him it was coming. BS. You dont think management or some of there robot employees would tell you that for good PR?Especially Namm on the same week? Namm is for stores to order equiptment like the MPC 5000.

naw, I'm not taking that personnel, but i've been around way before this forum and many other MPC's sites, and history has it's facts with how Akai/Alesis/Roland update their OS. jus sit back they will release another os for the 5k/ along with a new MPC Product never fails. :)

What do you mean by new MPC product? Do think they will have an updated model of the 5K? Like an MPC5000plus. I don't know if I will be getting another one of these. If Akai does release another model of the 5K. I don't think I will be forking out another $2500 for it ??? . I'd rather get Maschine. It may not be an MPC but it sure can do alot for a cheaper price.

Yeah, the Akai MPC could be at an ending era, especially if they dont start adjusting their prices and parts to the current technology thats available and using better, more current "cpu parts"(example: over $100 for 128mb of RAM when you can get Gigs of Ram for that amount these days). Becoming more intergatable with computers and many other things.... Im a fan of the old Akai(stability wise), but not how things are going with the new one(at least not yet). Step ya game up Akai and lower prices(we are in a recession)!!!

I completely agree. For that price range the 5000 should have better processors and more stability. I don't mind the separation from computers, being that there is always a workaround. It's the crashing and freezing that becomes intolerable.

.

Seconded. Hardware should not have the disadvantages of software.

:?
The 5000 is dedicated hardware which operates on software....it has the same disadvantages of computer running a software sampler/sequencer. But since it is dedicated hardware/software package..it is more stable than the latter. Simply visit any internet forum dedicated to music production software and you will see similar complaints and much more.
