questions about sampling

a few questions about sampling on the 2000


1) Ive read around and come across this answer for the xl but not the classic, is it possible to change the tempo of a sample??

2) Also found for xl, when I hit a pad the sample keeps playing even when I hit another pad. Ive played around with the note off but I want to have the note on but just have it stop when I hit another pad (make sense?) if thats possible??

3) Any alternatives to saving straight to a floppy, it takes me like 5 floppies to save all my sampled sounds.....its very annoying.

2. press 'open window' while polyphony is highlighted (poly/mono/note off)

3. scsi/jaz drives/zip drives/card readers

^ thanks man, but ive tried all three poly, mono, and note off but which one is it, they dont seem to be workng how I want to?

Also, I actually have a zip drive but im not sure how to use it, any info anywhere about them?


Also, is it possible to filter a whole track, i know you can with sounds but i want a whole track

Mono: Cuts the sample if u hit the pad again
Poly: Doesnt cut the sample if u hit the pad again...
Note off: Only plays the sample the time u hit the pad

if u got ur sample looped, it doesn't matter which mode u use unless u dont change the Attack/decay function, Zip is connected with the scsi-port on the back

...dude thats basic shit, read the manual...

...it is not possible to filter tracks, but u can copy the samples on different pads for different tracks and just use the filtered pads for one track...

Well its saying SCSI not ready when I try to save and its all connected, so I dont know whats happening.

make sure the scsi cable on the zip drive is plugged into the slot labled ZIP and that the mpc and zip drive are using different scsi ID's. also make sure you turn the zip drive on first then the mpc.

so, you've tried pressing 'open window' while you have the polyphony highlighted but it didnt work. well, then, your mp is broke.

o, and press 'open window' everytime you highlight something new

im not sure I have everything connected right here, I only have one cable from the scsi of the MPC to the zip of the drive, there isnt a power cord or anything, and when I hit the power button it wont turn on. I put a disk in there and now its stuck, I cant get it to turn on or get this disk out.

Im thinking that the zip drive is broken.

I just replied to your PM that you must have a power adapter plugged into the ac outlet and the zip drive; otherwise, you will not have the zip drive powered up and you'll get nowhere. Where did you get a zip drive that has no ac adapter? And does it have the two switches on the back between the connectors?

Mute groups. Go into Pgm Mode, select Params, and at the bottom of the screen you will see Mute.

If you want to mute pad 1 by hitting pad 2, go into the params for pad 2, scroll cursor down to mute, then hit pad 1.

And buy a power adapter lol!!! Just kidding. But yeah they are not like usb powered drives. Get the adapter and you will be straight.
