I have a mpc 60 with the 3.1 upgrade and I have it midi connected to an s2800 rack mount sampler. I saw this video posted on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ISZu7jwXgYU and was wondering how is he using the pads to trigger the individual program samples on the s950 all at the same time as if the sounds were actually in the mpc 60. How do you set up individual pads to trigger the samples.
I also found an article about dj premier and this is a quote telling how he uses his s950..."When my ear catches something on a record that I like, I'll send a portion of that record from my Technics record player to the S950. Once the sample is in the 950, I truncate the parts I don't want, program what I do have, and assign it to one of the pads on the MPC.

it doesnt make any sense until later when youre working with other gear, but its a GREAT habit to start from the beginning... if you get in the habit of using the pads in the general midi layout, it will just cause you to have to relearn later...
