Just got the MPC 2500!

just as I suspected.. Like I said.. Loosen the screws that hold the cover on.. You dont HAVE to take them out completely to do this (unless u want to).

Once the screws are loose, just push/shift/reposition the cover so that the data wheel doesn't rub on the covers wheel cutout. It can be close, but not so close that it rubs obviously. Just try to center it as best you can.
Then hold it in place and tighten one screw at a time until its held in the right position. The cover fits pretty snug, So holding it in place while u tighten the screws helps. Plus if you need more gap in the front let say, try tightening the from case screws first, then the rear ones. make sense?

Since you have experience with assembling parts in/out of the MPC 2500 I have a question. I tried to take off the case the other day. I followed the mpc-stuff tutorial, but when it came to taking out the dvd drive I had some issues. I took out the silver knob at the bottom of the case. But I can't take the DVD Drive for some reason. Is it suppose to just simply slide out, or do I have to force it out?

Look on the bottom of the MPC.. there is a small circlular indent and a screw in the center of it.
That single screw is holding in the cdr/dvd drive.
remove the screw and then you slide the drive out. just be careful with the tray when you do it.

I did take that silver screw out, but the drive just isn't sliding out. I'll try again later.

Well, I still haven't fixed it actually. I just said F*** it and use the +/- keys. Might fix it soon cuz my mode button is really loose (but still works) and my right arrow is starting to go. As for using the wheel properly I'd say that if your scrolling through large folders or anything that requires a lot of spins hold the + key rather than trying to spin the wheel crazy fast. Seems like you got an okay deal. Mine was from the first run to hit Canada. It was $2799 plus 12% tax. No HD or DVD drive or RAM, just bare bones.

That's a really high price.

Ya, it was high alright. But it was also the only one on the west coast of Canada at the time, and I had just gotten a large insurance settlement from an accident a few years before. There's always a delay between shipping within the US and shipping to Canadian distributers so it might have been the first one sold in western canada.

But I think it's in Canadian dollars. Which makes it maybe 300-400 less in American, which is still a hiiigh pricee.

My bad, it was $2499 and the Canadian dollar was at a record low I believe. Which I know is still a ridiculously high price. There was no 5000's then, and the 1000 wasn't gonna cut it. But when it's just been released in Canada, and it's the only one on the west coast, and you got $29,000 to spend on gear and don't want to wait for one to ship from the US. Price really didn't matter.
The only thing that mattered was fresh pads in my hands...
