Thats the worst product demo I have ever seen lol even the Beat Thang sh*t was better

Just looks like a poorly executed Alesis Micron which was actualy a good synth cos it's basicaly a Ion in a small box..and the Ion give it to Alesis is actualy a very good sounding synth

yes... it's been verified that the "miniAK" is nothing more than a micron with a facelift... be expecting more of these older alesis products with a facelift from AKAI... it seems to be all they can come up with now.

personally, i have a micron and like it a lot... it's a better build than this new akai one.

I compared the specs a while back and as far as I can tell--this IS the alesis micron repackaged.

I like the two mod wheels but other than that, I'm not impressed. The vocoder sounds horrible. My Korg R3 is much better.

I had a Micron for a short while. While I liked the compactness of it and the sound of it (well, somewhat), I didn't care for the control layout or the menu-driven interface. Thus, everything was dependent on that little encoder knob/button. Considering the fact that encoder knob would get the most use, chances are it would wear out faster than the rest of the controls and cripple the synth. Bottom line, I returned the Micron because I didn't like the interface and found it verying limiting, despite the powerful synth engine that lies beneath it. Now, if the layout of the Micron was the same as this new MINIAK, I probably would've kept it. A pitchwheel + 2 mod wheels + 3 assignable knobs = sweet!!!! I think this would also make a nice midi controller for softsynths in a laptop as well.

Oh btw, I agree with you all. The demo sucked.

I'll take back what I just said in my last post. It's been a few years since I looked a Micron. After comparing the two side by side, there basically the same darn thing. I wouldn've been any happier with the Miniak. The only real difference is the gooseneck mic and the two mod wheels on the Miniak are actually the 2 sliders on the Micron. Same synth. Just a different look and different name. What I don't understand is why the Miniak is over $100 more expensive than the Micron:

Because Akai paid an R&D team to repackage the micron, and now they are looking to recoup...

Just look at it this way, you are paying Akai to be a musical instrument recycler.
