When I first got into music production, I was using MTV Music Generator (a video game, but everybody starts somewhere) for making songs and stuff. When I got into high school, I remember downloading the Fruity Loops demos and doing stuff on there. In college, I bought Reason 4 (people say that Reason is better than Fruity Loops) for music production, as I want to become a producer when I grow up. However, I've ran into some small peeves when using software. I always drummed things out on a table; so the process of placing my beatboxing onto software was always a tedious task...
That's until I bought the MPC 1000. You probably remember a thead on here talking about my MPC freezing during start up (by the way, I fixed it myself; motherboard was fried). Since then, I've added 128MB RAM, a 120GB hard drive, and I have numerous (amounting in thousands) drum sounds in my MPC 1000. I've discovered that I'm a "hands on" type of guy, and the mouse was just holding me back from actually utilizing my hands.
Basically, there's a huge transition from clicking sounds to actually "beating" into pads. Now, does anybody favor the MPC's over the software that's out there today. I know that coupled with software, the MPC's can be a deadly adversary, but if you had to really choose, would it be software or hardware???
