Sample chopping help

Okay, say I chop a sample into 4 peaces on pad 1 through 4. I want to be able to hit pad 1 and then pad 3 and the two samples don't overlap. Like pad 1 stops before the sample is over and pad 3 starts or I hit pad 1 twice and the sample starts over instead of overlapping. If you don't understand what I am trying to do please let me know and I will try to clarify. Thanks.

From main screen:
>Shft+PGM(6)
>drum1(F1)
>hit the pad of sample
>PARAMS(F2)
>use cursor to highlight where it says POLY. scroll to the right for MONO.

POLY is the default setting for all the pads making the sample play through, thus, overlapping itself. MONO will make the sample restart each time you hit the pad.

>hit OPEN WINDOW while still in Overlap (where it says poly, mono etc..)
This is mute assign where you can assign certain pads to mute once another is triggered.

All this is in the manual and pretty basic.
you should experiment with all three: poly, mono and note off.
