Afternoon
Bit of a long shot this, but JJOSxl seems to do just about everything else and reading these forums, you learn about stuff that isn't in the book (looping samples live etc...)
Anyway my setup is very simple - just an mpc 2500, JJOSxl, and currently an ipod connected via digital input. Im still pretty much learning about the mpc so this will do for now.
Now currently I play a song on the ipod and sample a section of it. Then I assign it to a pad and play it on a track. Then I select another track and play drums/bass/whatever over the original sample. Nice and simple.
However what Id like to know is that can I improve this workflow and
i) Have the ipod play the sample
ii) Play the drums over it
iii) Record the whole thing all at once.
As Im using 2 inputs, but only one of them external (the ipod) I wonder if I can do this without a mixer.
Any help welcome.

Your assumption is totally incorrect in any case. I had already tried it - but no luck. Im not sure it can be done - as I was trying to record two tracks at once.
