Sampling from old records and vinyl... Hardware ideas???

if you want to play sounds from your computer into your mpc:

get this




now if you want to play your playstation games with the sound going into the mpc...

get two of these


(put one on the red jack from the playstation and one on the white jack.. and plug those into the record input of the mpc. you can still put the yellow jack from the PS2 into the tv so you see where you are at in the game)


from record players.. the thing is, the input on the mpc for recording is at line level. most record players need phono level. so people are suggesting DJ mixers because they are designed to take in the phono level turntable and convert it to line level.

Hey can you use any kind of mixer, like a small channel mixer? Or would it need to have a phono input?

it needs to have a phono input, unless the turntable has line out on it. That is unlikely though, but some of the newer tables have it.

but you could get something like this also:

Dude, I was looking up preamps and then I came back and read your post. I think that would work great, Im sure thats what I am going to do. Thanks a bunch.

no problem man... personally I use a korg kaoss pad 2 (korg kp2) because it has one built in... because since I own a piece of gear that has one I wont bother buying a standalone one. plus it is neat to be able to apply effects on the sample before recording (example: filter to improve static... etc..)

man thats real cool. school tends to keep my pockets empty so i have to find cheapers means to enjoy music.
