Reviews and questions about the entry-level MPC500
By hunterestrada Fri Jul 24, 2009 1:34 am
When using the card that came with the MPC500 that I bought used, I cannot format the card because it either replies SYSTEM ERROR!!! or INVALID FORMAT!!!. I cannot view the card on my mac when i go to the usb connected menu. So I bought a new card, the PNY Optima Pro UDMA 2GB card, and when I start up the MPC with it or plug it in while the MPC is running, the MPC completely freezes up and I cannot do anything untill I take out the card. Can somebody please tell me what am I doing wrong.

Thanks.

It won't let me get to the format window because it freezes up after I press the Load pad. Does anyone else know if the PNY Optima Pro UDMA Card is compatable with the MPC500? Also, I got the original 128 MB card to work but when I try to update the MPC software from 1.11 to 1.13 it freezes up on Searching For OS. Can someone help me with that too. I really want to start using my MPC but i just keep riunning into problems.

Format it in FAT32 on your computer, and it should work. But then reformat it in the MPC afterwards to be shure not to crash in the future.

thanks elmer it worked but i cant format the card on the mpc500 because it alwars says SYSTEM ERROR, get stuck at Formatting..., or INVALID FILE FORMAT. I've tried the original 128 AKIA card, a 4gb PNY card, and a 4gb KIngston card and all of them have the same problems. Im on 1.11 so maybe thats the problem but i cant upload to 1.31 because when it always gets stuck at FAT32 Searching for OS.

You can still upgrade the OS to 1.31

Download the OS from akaipro.com to a CF card (1 or 2gig) on your mac.

Put the card in the 500 and turn on the power while holding down the Shift key. Press Rec button to begin the upgrade.

Be sure to re-initialize to factory default. Dickhead.

Lol @ "elmer"

The OS stored on your internal flash is shmutzed up bud.

Take your memory expansion out.

Take any batteries out.

Get a proper CF that you know works.

Format the CF into fat32 on a computer.

Download OS update from Akai and put on CF.

Download "how to upgrade" read me file from same Akai webpage where you got the OS from.

Follow "how to upgrade" instructions.

After installing OS 1.31 reformat your CF again with the MPC format function just in case for the best compatibility.

And if that dont work I dont know what to say, because it worked for me and my padna AJ.

Moovin up, moo, moovinup, moovinup, moovinup....
