The MPC is just like the 1200. You can't mess with it too much or it's not a 1200 anymore. On one hand you'd like Akai to add all these features, on the other hand there's a thin line between innovation and messing up a good thing.
I do agree, but I wouldn't hate any innovative things they do. The only thing that really gets me disapointed is how they kind of messed with us with the 5k. I mean akai professional wouldn't be around except we want the MPC. They first of all were planning the 3500 which they switched the name so they could call it a flagship (and charge accordingly). then they gave out machines that only worked properly during quick demos, and when you actually tried producing and saving on it... it bugged out. That is BS. We shouldn't be treated like idiots when we spend that kind of money on a drum machine. but the thing that takes the cake is how it seems like when they aren't trying to sell the faulty 5K with the bad rep, they are sugar coating old alesis products that they aren't even selling anymore.
i mean it is thing after thing. the 1K faulty pads, a few people had issues with the older ram slots on the new mpcs (500) the clips broke. then we discover the mpc1000 and 2500 are the exact same machine except for the pads, screen, and outs... yet they were over a thousand dollars more expensive. then the 5000 had people scratching their heads because the specs were lower then the 4000 despite the higher number in the name.
but the copying products bit wouldn't bother anyone in any other circumstance. the xr-20 (not sure if this is an alesis clone), miniak, the akai monitors...
it just seems like akai is **** ing around
