MPC 1000 OS issue

Hey guys I'm hoping I can get some help here. I recently bought an MPC 1000 off of ebay and I got it in the mail yesterday. I was trying to chop a sample yesterday but the "slice" option was missing from the TRIM window. I did some searching on the internet and I read where one guy had the same issue, but he went to akaipro.com and upgraded to the latest OS for the 1000 and it fixed his problem. I went to the website and downloaded the latest bin file, moved to the flash card on my pc and followed the very simple instructions on how to load the new OS. After I loaded the new OS the MPC rebooted and all I get now is the bright green background and nothing else. It's blank. I've reloaded it and reloaded it and I get the same result each time. If someone could help me that would be great.

sounds like the OS file you downloaded was corrupt. Re-download it and make sure that you unzip it. You should be left with a .bin file. The .bin is the file you need to drop on the memory card.

Make sure you don't mess with the MP while it's installing the OS, it should re-boot itself when it's done.

Why bother. Get the JJ OS! You will be happy with it!

I haven't actually used JJOS myself yet, but I'm sure it's as superior as everyone says. From my understanding, JJOS has more functionality and is therefore more complex, so I'm getting used to working with the Akai OS before I move on to JJOS.

After all, you gotta learn to amble before you can strut. I could be wrong though.

Another thing that's holding me back from JJOS is the price tag, this being the end of the month and all. Once I've got some scrilla I'll definitely upgrade. Is the free version of JJOS still vastly superior to Akai OS 2.12?
