With this O.S., having 26 partitions on a storage device (in my case a card reader with compact flash cards) is close enough to folders to me.

And when you put that card in you computer it looks like this:

Now that's well organized and clean to me! And on your computer you can have tons of folders and drag and drop files to and from your partitions.


I can't see why anyone would keep away from the most stable MPC because it don't have folders...

-Compression feature
-MANY new sequencer features!
-Stay in different editing-windows when the sequencer is running
-Stop all souns at sequencer stops (great when you work with really long samples)
-Works with more storage devices

I agree deck.. i dont see why folder support would be a change in live..

Reading wav's (hmmm can live without, but would be nice)
More porgrams at once (i dont need this)
Preview samples in load mode (Now this would be sick)
Mono/poly for a whole program.. samples cutting off (this would be sick)

Im sure Rohan is doing hard work developing mad functions....

I think mono for 1 bank (16 pads) at a time would be the best way.

Now that's nice! I have the 2500 with the jj os, and honestly, i still use it like my old 2000XL. Features don't make a drum machine great, although a few of the additions (normalize and the hi/band filters) are nice. I can do some of these things with my 404 tho. 26 partitions is more than good enough.. especially if you can find a bunch of 128/256mb cards..no sense in buying anything bigger than that.

I Had the 2500 aswell with the jjos.. Cool machine.. swapped it for a 60

so i understand better... you say 26 partitions.... is that like 26 folders? where in each partition you can save anything (sounds, pgm, seq) i dont have a 3000 yet, but this is the main reason why i havnt got it yet... i just love my xl.. when the RO blessed us with this update, i nearly bought a 3000 and the update that day... the folder options was the last thing im lookin for.... i dont use my pc for my music so i dont care about wavs and editor....but if this partition thing is essentialy the same as folders, then im game... even if its 26 folders MAX...

I was going to hold this announcement for a while longer but in case anyone is interested, we are now selling a CF card reader for the MPC60 and MPC3000 that mounts in the floppy drive slot for under $100. It does not support hotswapping of CF cards but otherwise, it is a nice little SCSI card reader. It is very fast and it works with either the Akai or Valixi os in the 3000.

I fully agree with you and here is my little solution to it:

I use the 3000 with hardware synth and Logic audio.
I create a MIDI track in the MPC to trigger drum samples loaded into Logic's EXS 24, just like i would do with a drum kit from a synthesizer. That way you can play/record using a MIDI keyboard connected to your MPC and choose the drums from your collection. When your choice is done, just transfer the sounds into the MPC !
your pgm is built progressively in the making of the track

I HATED the fact that the music has to stop when i choose some drums in my computer, this way it is solved.

What i would expect from a new OS ? Midi Sample Dump for STEREO files !
Or the feature that is available in the 60 i heard it allows to create a stereo sound
from two mono sounds.

Also the possibility to cut/paste a whole chord in step edit mode, not only notes !



Why do you want to select MONO/POLY for whole program ?
The choice is available for every sound in the MPC .
please explain !

I think he means so that when going from one pad to another, the whole program would be mono so it cuts off the last sample when a new pad is triggered. Not sure tho

i think the one upgrade i would like is the note var slider to work like the 2000 xl for the sample trim!!! just like the asr 10! that would make it much easier for my end!!!
