Do you have recycle or switch? What kind of format are your sounds in .wav, mp3? Are they sounds from a commercial retail store like Guitar Center, Gotcha Noddin.com, Loopmasters, that are on a DVD or CDrom? Or are your sounds on your computer and you can't figure out how to transfer your files from computer to MPC? :?:

Check if your samples are 24 bit wav.
If they are, you will have to convert them all to 16 bit before loading them to create programs on the 5k.

Browse the net, look for audio converters and you will find some good software you can buy or download free.

When I got my 5k I had the same problems with 24 wav. and Aiff files.
I had to buy a $19 converter which is very good. It allows you to convert a complete folder no matter how many files you have, it will convert them all at once.

Do it and you'll be happy.

No! The 5k does not read neither 24 bit wav. nor AIFF.

Are you sure? I have no problems with 24 bit drums sounds, they load fine.

I take that back you can LOAD AIFF files. Page 201 of the reference manual. You can also export hd tracks at 24 bit. I cant find in the manual about loading 24 bit files, but I do it all the time.

Ya man I am pretty sure I always be loading 24 bit wavs into the ****. Cause I dont let things go down to 16 bit until I am done mixing and am mastering it so its got to cause I know I havent had to not do it my way. I dont know why yours isnt working though then thats weird. Do you have them in a folder that has sub folders in it? That wasnt working for me like I made a folder with a bunch of different folders in it for my kicks and snares and hi hats and stuff and it had to be like 1 folder at a time.

I don't know why so many people think that the MPC5000 can't load 24bit WAV files? I do it all the time!

To the original poster:

Why not just do the load to new program option now available in OS 2.0?

If you don't already know, this is how you do it:

When loading a Folder, the MPC5000 now has the ability to load only samples (WAV Files), and create a new Program. The samples will automatically be assigned to each pad of the new Program. If more than 64 samples are in the folder, an additional Program will be created which will contain the extra samples beyond the first 64. These Programs will be named “Program” followed by a unique number starting at 001. If you already have a Program called Program 001, then it will automatically go to Program 002, and so on. You can easily change the names of the Programs when you are creating them, or rename the Programs after they are created.

To load all the samples in a folder into a new program, do the following: Also Refer to Picture Demonstrating The Process.

• In DISK MODE, select a folder to load.

(1) Press [DO IT] to load the folder
The LOAD A FOLDER window will appear as shown below.

(2) In the ‘LOAD’ field, choose “SAMPLES INTO NEW PROGRAMS”. (Use Data Wheel or Cursor Buttons to select this option).
NOTE: You can also CLEAR or REPLACE same files as well.

(3) Press [DO IT]

Oops!! The problem was in the files I had. It loads 24 bit perfectly.

Free program called goldwave. Drag and drop the .wav then save as .wav with bit rate of choice. I use multiple 5k's and have never had a problem with any bit rate. I also pre-master,compress,eq and effect EACH .wav "sample" prior to building a song. Song mode is wack if you don't give some foreplay to the wavs individualy. Trying to effect,eq,master a complete song after is like putting on a rubber after you bust. What's the point? I track out anyways so I don't song mode.
