Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Hi everybody

i have finally broke up my 3rd zip drive and i'm def moving to an ext cf card reader
my problem is that all my samples are on zip disks so i'll have to buy me also another zip drive in order to recover the samples and then save them on the cf card...
unfortunately i can't find one in my city so
i was checking ebay and found loads of zip drives that come with the definition "parallel"... i checked the parallel port and it really looks like a scsi DB25 (it has 25 pins) , the one i need for the mpc ...

is it the same or it will not work ? i tried to contact a few of the sellers but they don't seem to understand what is a scsi port ...

thanks

Can't you just swap the mechanisms from a parallel drive with a SCSI one? I assume everything inside is the same except the interface that the drive actually connects to.

Try and stick with mcd readers if you can.

Leave Zips alone.

What kind of ZIP drive did you use before?

get a cheap usb zip drive off ebay... or get a friend with an older computer and a zip drive to copy the disks on to the hard drive. then you can transfer that sh!t to CF cards.

ok ...great forum!

one ore question:

will chicken translator installed on my Mac Book work fine for all the drag and drop operations and back ups between Mpc2k and Mac?

i wouldn't want to end up with compatibility problems...
like the mpc wouldn't recognize the CF card after beeing used on the Mac

Thanks again

That won't happen - your CF card will not become incompatible just because you used it with Translator. You should visit the Chicken Systems website and check which features are not available on the Mac version of Translator vs the Windows version. I know the Mac version does have a slightly reduced feature set but I think most of the important features are there, with plans to add any missing features later.
