Looking for a machine with relatively simple interface to build beats with. Will be playing along in real time with guitar as I write. I want to be able to easily lay down a good 4/4 beat for a few measures, and then a 5/4 beat and string them together/ alternate them/ repeat/ start over a million times etc....
If I only worked in 4/4 I know it would be easier to make a choice, but I need a machine that can do different time sigs. relatively simply.
I have a full computerized studio but I'm sick of having to 'f around with tons of software and programs and making them talk to each other
and want to simplify the beatmaking/ songwriting process.
I'm fine with a bit of a learning curve, but it was getting to be too much manual reading, too little making music.
Was looking at the DR880/ The elektron machinedrum etc....
Is the MPC the right tool for this job? If so, which one do you recommend?
