Difference between Akai OS and JJOS

Hi,

I'm looking at purchasing my first mpc, probably this 2500 model, and i've read loads in these forums which has helped me a lot, but one thing i can't work out is the difference between the Akai OS and the JJOS.

Why are there different OS? Is the JJ one independant of Akai altogether, or is is another OS akai have made to encorporate things?

Any help and advice on this would really be appreciated, as i want to fully get myself up to speed for when i buy this baby!

I'm using Akai's OS (at this point, planning to switch to JJ) so I don't know the exact functions of the JJ OS but the most simple difference between these two OS' is that JJ has more functions. In JJ u can get more out of the machine in comparison to the Akai OS.

If you are new to beat making, I think the Akai's OS will do just fine for you. I have once messed with the JJ and I did completely the same things that I also do on Akai's OS. On the other hand, if you install JJ OS immediately when you buy the machine, you should get into JJ OS faster - if you switch to JJ after #!cking with the Akai OS for a while, it may be more difficult to get used to JJ. BUT once again on the other hand, JJ OS doesn't have a manual(correct if wrong). If you learn to freak out the machine with the Akai OS, you have the manual to help you. What I can tell, you will need the manual if you want to be able to use all the benefits of the machine.
