help recording with mpc 2000

i have just bought a used mpc 2000 and im trying to record a sound from my television so i plugged in the two stereo in's into my mpc and the other side of the cable to my tv. and for some reason the mpc doesnt record or detect any sound. why is this?

check gain on MPC, volume on tv. wiggle the base of the cables on both ends.
have you sampled another source i.e. CD, record to see everything is fine on your MPC? i ask that only because you said you just got your MPC.

i checked all that stuff, but im just wondering do i need a midi cable? or are the cables that came with the mpc fine?

I bet you that you have the inputs to the tv going into the mpc
on most newer tv's they have a separate rca out from the tv to go to other components. make sure ur usin the right ones
and go from the out of the tv to the in on the mpc.

im assuming youre using rca to quarter inch cables.
