Exchange tips and tricks for the Akai MPC4000

Bare with me on this.

I Hit the PROGRAM button. and then F2 (KG MIX) I can see all my samples. When I hit my mpc pads the samples play, HIGHLIGHT and move accordingly. However when I Hit a key using my mother keyboard the sounds are heard. But the Sample is not selected/highlighted. and don't jump. This could be very helpful for me. as i like to use my keyboard for drums also. It would speed up my pad assignments too.

Is there something I'm doing wrong here. this really doesn't make too much sense to me. The keyboard triggers the sound, so why not everything else like the pads do. Help me out here!!!

I don't remember the mpc 3000 having this problem.

Thanks

...just downloaded the beta. auditioning samples is INCREDIBLE

Mmm that sounds about right if I`m not mistaken you can`t highlight like in drum program because each may be set to a keynote which in turn set to a midi note. Try to set the program up chronically and go to program or Multi and to the pitch page or span , you will see the keygroup blocke and hit the keynote span for the range or if you are using akys you may see your keynote flash if it is set properly. Someone else might know I can`t remember everything now I`ll have to check the ref manual someone will holla back at ya. :D
