Hello,

Is it possible to connect the DIGITAL Output to the DIGITAL Input of my Tascam US1641 ?
(It seems to be a silly question... I recognize...)
What kind of cable do I need ? Simple RCA <-> RCA ?

I had never used DIGITAL connections before.

It's actually called digital coax, spdif coax. It's 2 channel, check ur mpc manual to see what digital rate
is outputed by you mpc. Tascam MUST match that freq in order to hear anything. Coax is different spec than rca even though they share the same connectors. Yes, u can still use rca, go ahead and try it out, it wont hurt anything to try.

have people already tried to connect MPC DIGITAL OUT to a Digital IN of a Soundcard ?

What is the difference between SPDIF Coax and SPFID RCA ?
Is it the same connector ? The same cable or not ?
Do you have a link to purchase a cable ?

No such thing as spdif rca.

spdif coax = yes.

I just told you it's not the same spec cable.
You can STILL try rca, it won't hurt anything.
Same connectors/plugs yes.

You need to research the cable you need.

I bought a coax digital cable and it works !
Great :) The difference is very noticeable !!

No more 50hz !

Now I even wonder how could there be so much noise on ANALOG out ?

It's a night and day difference isn't it, haha.

Alot of people say it sounds TOOOO CLEAN, but I think digital is the way to go.

I like my tracks as clean as possible throughout the whole process.

real talk. your audio chain should be as clean as possible - any grit or distortion should be applied using FX and production techniques (bounce down to tape, using tubes etc).

I really don't like to start of with permanent grit in my track. Ya know like it's set in with the original wav already. I'd rather apply it in my effects block/bus whatever. But I have made songs with gritty samples right off the bat. It depends on what the song calls for but usually I'm fine with everything straight clean from the get go.

I can make it gritty if I want, leave my options open.

do you just record your individual tracks out over multiple passes?

For the longest time I've been pushing my mpc main outs through triton active line in, triton optical spdif out to digi001 optical spdif in. I love the clarity and cleanliness of optical.

Ferrite core along your analog audio cable cause help to reduce line noise/interference. Not eliminate but reduce.

What they do is basically prevent the wire they are put on from acting like an antenna.
Like I said, not 100 percent, but close to it.

It's not a bad idea to go around and put them on all appliance cords that don't already have 'em on.
That'll reduce the amount/chances of general interference, probably lowering the "noise floor" of your audio gear in that area. Put them as close to the appliance end of the cord as you can, to minimize "antenna length".
