How do I find the BPMS on my mpc 4000 without a hassle

Now I've been on my Mpc 4000 for a minute but my biggest problem is how I have to find the right bpm for a piano bar I just played. It takes me out the groove to stop and find the bpms and then play it exactly on that not including messing with the TC. How can I just play while recording, stop, and the Mpc4000 pick up the bpms and/or time correct?

Tap tempo button is your friend and dial the rest in. First step is even if you are recording without t/c you should either lay down a beat to record your piano over or stay within beat recording with the metronome.
