I think some former 2000xl users hit jj with a feature request back in the days of JJOS1, i remember it being discussed at the time. In fact a lot of xl and older mpc features got added by JJ : simult pad and simult sequence to name a couple.

this might go in my sig..

haha just messing... thing with the extra JJ stuff is youve got to read around his website, stans manual and the forum here too... there isnt anywhere that has all the info in one place like the akai manuals do.

thanks for everyone's input. I actually ended up getting a barely used mpc500. Will this one take and benifit from the JJOS software?

It doesn't run JJOS, but it will give you a start on MPCs.

You may find the display a bit cramped - but the unit is very portable so you can come up with a workflow.

Try the mpc500 tutorials - and definitely check out You Tube.

Keep in mind that it will only sound as good as what you put into it -- here's a side by side comparison of a 2500 and a 500 and as you will see there's not much difference in the sound....

the confusion on you settling for a 500 was because .. you asked about the 2000xl and the 1k, but in the end you went and bought a machine that is considered inferior to both those machines.

Ignorant? You went to the restaurant, asked the chef many questions about his lobster then his shrimp but ended up getting Burger King...and you get tight wit Juke? This place never has a dull moment. Enjoy the .5k

Sure thing newbie and hey... enjoy your new toy.

I got a question... should I get a 2000 Range Rover fully loaded with Turbo or a 2005 GMC Denali fully loaded?

Never mind... I decided to get a 2006 Fiat Punto off of eBay.

that is pretty dumb, the audio specs are pretty much the same as the oldschool ones except for the 60 and the 4000. the slight difference they may have are barely noticable especially once you mixdown your track.

now in the field of programming, and build quality... sure they are not AS good... but nothing is these days. haven't you noticed that every thing is becomming cheaper and cheaper? and anyways, besides the 5k and the 500, nukai at least has JJos to get the programming right for the 1k and 2500.
