mpc 500 and axiom 25 keyboard

so i just got an mpc 500, an axiom 25 keyboard, and a mac book computer. ive had no problems using the mpc and keyboard separately, but how do i connect the two so with MIDI clock. the manual says i need a keyboard that generates sound, and the keyboard doesn't do that unless its hooked up to the computer. i don't have any software like pro tools, logic, reason, or FL (but plan on getting it) and don't have any interface that would allow me to connect either the keyboard or the MPC to the mac via MIDI cables. do i need anything else in order to connect the keyboard to the MPC, or do I have everything i need. if i have everything, how the **** to i connect the two. any help would be awesome. thanks...

Do u want to control the mpc with ur keyboard?

Only thing u need is a midi cable going from the keyboards midi out to the mpc's midi in.

as menco said you will only need a cable from from the midi out of the axiom to the midi in of your mpc if all you wish to do is trigger note info etc on the mpc , however because you wish to sync midi time clock info you would need a separate usb midi interface plugged into your mpc from you mac because the axiom range has no midi thru ability and is simply a controller keyboard with no clock synced features..

so all this time i've been trying to sync with logic unsuccessfully is because the axiom 25 is incabable of syncing??? reassurance?

Why would you want to sync a controller keyboard? Of course the Axiom is not capable of it, because it doesn't have to.

to clarify i meant use as an interface trying to sync my mpc 2500. i don't have a sound card w/midi so all i got is the axiom and my fantom. so seems like i need a seperate midi interface to sync my mpc to daw.
if i'm wrong plz correct me, i was just about to buy one.

Ok...have you checked the Axiom manual on that, is says something about using it as an interface. In general that should be easy...but maybe the Axiom is really buggy in that respect, I don't know.

this statement threw me off, but i'll check the manual out now.

so it looks like you may be able to sync via the axiom but only one way, that would mean routing the mpc midi out to the input of your axiom and slaving your daw to that. not a pretty or perfect solution, but a solution nonetheless.

also there is a thread here that has a section lifted from the manual regarding how to set your mpc 500 up as the master time clock

alright...thanks for all the help so far, but i'm still in the process of saving for a lexicon lambda interface between the midi and comp, so what i've been trying to do recently is control the mpc 500 with the axiom 25. i've hooked up the midi out from the axiom to the midi in of the mpc, read the mpc manual section about hooking up external midi devices about 500 times, and the shit still isn't workin...im obviously retarded or something because i've read other forums where people just read the manual and get it to work, so can anybody give me the step by step version of how i can control samples (that i've recorded onto the mpc) with the axiom 25 cause this is KILLIN ME!!! thanks again for all the help!

i'm no mpc expert having only just gotten one two weeks ago but it really should be as simple as plugging the cable in as you described, setting the midi channel on both devices so that they are transmitting/receiving on the same channel, then changing the octave on your axiom until you find the notes that the mpc responds to by default.. i think also it would be a good idea for your to restore both your axiom and your mpc back to the factory setting before you try this..
