MPC500 midi controlling video

Im having problems setting midi with the mpc500 and modul 8 vj software... can anyone give me orientation on the subject? thanks...

Take an empty track, and switch program to 'off'. Set the midi channel.
Set the same midichannel in ur software program.
Read the modul 8vj manual for setting up the midi in there.
