I know I should probably dive into the manual, but I cant find the fuker.
How/where do I set up the pads midi channel and also the setting for the parts midi channels.
I want to be able to play the pads to trigger drum samples and at the same time play the keys on my triton without the mpc's current selected prog sounding.....
just call me a newbie if noone wants to answer....

In the Multi page you can set the midi channels too for the parts via midi from external controllers and the pads. As for the pads you can press the pad assign button and assign the samples to the pads only in drum programs. I hope I understood your question right if not someone will come along and help.

hy boy - dunno if i really got your question .... is your triton a rack or a synth with keys?

... anyhow if i wanna play both the 4k and my synth (with keys) the shortest way i found is to unplug the midi out cable on my synth ... and plug it back on when i wanna record midievents on the 4k which i play with the keys ... not very elegant but it worx ...
