To the Kangz...

It would be much appreciated if you could make a post detailing the full specs, all relevent information up to this point, plus release schedule etc. I know all this info is scattered around the previous pages of this crazy thread but for anyone new here it's probably too much of a pain to find.

At least that way the heads who have been part of this thread since the start can direct people to around page 100 to get the full lowdown. Cheers...

but saint joe man u doing a good job with ur sites homie there is know way u aint gonna be a beta tester.

the kangz got a real cool job man id love to desing and put out instruments.

so can u see urself ditching ur 4000 for the beat thang? cos i ready to drop my 1k for this, i wonder if you can delete sounds from the memory of the hardware like certain sounds u know u aint gonna use u might wanna delete them and put in ur own sounds so u can have a custom library without any unwanted sounds.

It would be cool if they came out with a midi controller that had the same pad set-up as the Beat Thang. I was an owner of the ASR-X Pro back in 1998 and I loved the octave pads set up. The sequencer on the other hand.......

well, I don't use my 4k much anymore, it's overkill for what I need at the moment, I don't have any of my hardware modules or synths anymore, so I don't need to control all that stuff.

Actually ableton live had me thinking of ditching the 4k...the beat thang will fill my void for that hardware feel when I want to get off the computer...and I can still have all my sounds with me.

For what I do, I definitely think this can be my hardware piece, I love the mpc no doubt, but waiting to load sounds and all that gets old, I just want to turn stuff on and bang out.

I was thinking the same thing man, that would definitely be something dope for those that don't need the hardware but still want a hands on feel.

It could compete with Native Instruments maschine

The FedEx guy literally just dropped off the Virtual Beat Thang on my doorstep, so it looks like I'm going to be busy today. It came packaged with a BeatKangz sticker and a mini poster that has all the specs and large pictures of the hardware and software. Once again I'd like to thank the BeatKangz for being cool enough to give away a free VBT for the 100th thread post, that's just awesome. I'll try to write up a review here in the next days comparing the workflow with the MPC1000. Saint Joe, I got to give props to you as well, since it was your website and videos that really got the gears turning in my head that this could be a really ill instrument.

no doubt man, make sure to post your feature requests etc, as they are watching and taking notes from us beat heads lol.

i feel what u saying like i always wanted a simple setup i neva like the idea of having a bunch of units arouns that i dont use, i want the most direct methd to beat and dont wanna be just software cos often times i dont wanna look at the screen all day but it is useful for organizing sounds and sequencing so this machine is a godsend the best of boths worlds.


vsts have evolved to surpass all hardware synths and sound modules so id rather have a good controller and just play sounds directly into the mpc over any drums ive programmed.

but how u find ableton cos that program is ill i wanna get into it but i just cant get settled with it

in my opinion it's the best DAW out, I tried everything available on pc, don't have a mac, not interested in logic either.

Once I udnerstood it, it's really simple, the workflow is dope and I can work like I do on my mpc.

If you need some help with it, hit me up and I'll try to explain it to ya.

I like it, but sometimes I just don't feel like opening it lol. Beat Thang let's me open it and just start bangin out music...ableton is definitely not hard
to use, it's just different.

beat thang is like an actual beat machine, ableton is it's own environment. I can't wait for the vst options in beat thang so I can just work on something,
then open it up in ableton and add whatever else I want or just record the audio out into loops.

software has definitely stepped up, I used to be hardcore hardware, I'm on computers all day as a network engineer, so I didn't want to come home and
mess with them lol..

but I found ableton, and the workflow is easy...so it's good.

that made me look at other software...so now I'm a software head pretty much.

ableton is dope, and I don't think Beat Thang is trying to replace it at all...but I know they'll work good together.

but for the past couple weeks I've just been opening beat thang and bangin out lol

yea, i wish i could beta test for a living, that would be dope, then i wouldnt get so worked up over bugs, crashes, and when stuff dont work how I want it, lol, or would I, hahaha

BeatKangz - it would good to get some information on your intentions for record modes. In addition to Real Time, will we get Step Mode and / or Roland / JJ OS style Grid Mode? The power of the sequencer will be a big selling point for many. Multiple seuencing methods is an area that the JJ OS has well covered for the MPC1000 and is crucial to creativity.

With regard to filters, is it a global setting or will we be able to have different filter types per track or sound?

As for record modes, I know they have plans for step sequencing in addition to realtime, and the filters are definitely not global.

I will verify once I get home to open the app, I think it's on a per sample/pad basis...but don't quote me on that yet, I'll make sure tonight when I get home.

you can definitely have different filters per track.

yeh i'm curious to see/hear what the filters are about compared to the mpc 1k/2.5k?
