I have a 1000 and 500 and my question is: which one will be more durable? I have to get rid of one of these and the obvious choice would be to keep the 1000. But for what i need it for either one will do. I want to use it to sample drums and sequence my tracks and both can do that. Does anyone know of any common issues that these machines have? do the audio or midi outs go bad in time? The 1000 heats up a lot more than the 500. Does that become a problem after awhile? I need some advice on which one to sell. Let me know.

i got the new pads and jjos so im leaning towards the 1000. im not going to be moving around with it so thats not an issue. im just thinking about the "what if" factor. the 1000 has multiple outs and midi connections so i know if one goes bad i have others but i dont want it to overheat on me one day.

the only issue i know are the "old defective" dying pads an industrial faulty construction...

and sometimes the buttons/switches, easily replaced

the heat in the 1000 is normal for the power supply andprocessor needs a bit cooling,

but it could work for years without failing because components are good quality,

critical temp is about 70-80 degrees..... far away from what happens in an mpc1000 turned on

for hours....
