What's up y'all... I bought an MPC with a broken card slot, supposedly one of the pins in it is broken, so it doesn't save and load.

I'm sure for now I can struggle with USB for now, but in the near future, I want to fix it.

MPC-Stuff sells a new card port for $50. Does anyone know if this is a plug-and-play sort of deal, or will it require soldering? I've never taken it apart, as it is in the process of being shipped right now.

Thanks!

I can't say 100% for certain, but the several times I've taken apart my 1k you can definitely swap out parts as they are all ribbon cable connections. I haven't taken apart the 500, but it would make sense that they are the same. Soldering parts makes it 10x more difficult to repair on site. So it is quite likely a very easy/safe procedure to replace.
