well for the xl.. dont use that 16 feature for every occasion.
in normal trim mode on the trim tab... just highlight the part you want and push edit. then either make it a new sound (if you want to use other parts of that sample) OR you can push the thing you first see that deletes the non-highlighted sections of the sound clip.
then you go into program from the main screen and put the bits onto pads.
