TIME STRETCH !

So I uploaded the sample on my pad, its about roughly a minute long in wav format. I recorded the sample and estimated the tempo of the beat with tap tempo at about 133bpm. I go to mode>trim>stretch and put original at 133bpm, and new to my desired tempo, 90 bpm. Now it should work, but nothing changes, the sample stays the same. I did some other Trim options like reverse and it worked.. any idea what I'm doing wrong? also when you time stretch and you have more than one sample, does it apply to all the samples or just one? Thanks.

It actually is able to, it has the time stretch function in the Trim menu. Pg. 69 of the manual i believe. I'm just not sure why its not working :?

Well it does say time stretching, but really all it does is ruin samples. Computer software like Melodyne or Ableton Live are far above and beyond what the MPC time stretching can do.

The MPC 500 isn't able to do time stretching.
AND its made of the bones of kittens :shock:

really though did you trim the sample to loop right? a minute long hmmmm turn on your metronome to play in playback and play your sample tap tempo wont cut it unless your a robot
browse thru the "presets" and try to get close to the sample type
works great for me

a minute long sample is going to requre a long a$$ sequence

thanks for the help bennisixx, I was going about it all wrong. I've got my samples re-tempo'd and sliced up ready to go. Thanks :mrgreen:

Oh yeah the 500 got timestretch, but it sucks. It turns your sample into a cheap mp3 digital sound and takes away certain frequencies that made the original sample poppin' in the first place.

Usually I pitch the sample to get the desired BPM and send it through the SP-606 to pitch shift the sample back to its original key. But thats my way, there's many though.

If you select the right preset you wont get the mp3ish sound------
tell yo what though my srtup for sampling tempo changes is this and it is cherry

import sample as a audio clip in fl studio auto detect and then adjust ( FL studio can give you a tempo if you right click on the waveform)
add effects - then I run through a presonus hp4 headphone amp-- gives you 5 outs off 1 stereo out on your interface
record to mpc stereo or mono tah da :D :D :D

tell you what yes i could save the file then import it into the 500 but sampling it is soooo much
better sounding imho

if you want to time streth in the mp then DO IT if anyone listens to your songs online its going to be mp3 anyway

but it really doesent affect it if you do it right

Nah, I'd get banned probably :P

Given the rest of the comments here perhaps I should put some more time into it, but I'm really thinking there are better ways to time stretch.

fastest and simplest one to use i have found if you havent got a MAC or a lot of time and space is WavePad Audio Editor. i use pro tools and logic etc at college but for home use i use this one as its a free download and really quick
