I am unable to Use a VST Instrument Multitimbrally when connected to the 5000. I am able to Record One Track Successfully for instance HaLion but if i want to add another track from the same instance of the vst Instrument......The original sound is ignored.

I have tried numerous combinations, including adding an Emu 2X2 Midi Interface and routing an Output of the MPC To the In of this and then setting up the corrrect inputs in the track inspector.

I am using a MOTU Interface and everything else in my setup is workig really well (Audio and External MIDI Devices)

This post is kind of middle ground as I don't know if this a problem specific to MPC 5000 users or whether the above is possible by making the correct parameter changes within cubase.....Am I looking at LSB Territory...that sort of thing

I have read on this site about using the digital connections on the MPC to record the Instrument as a sample and bring it in that way.......but I still feel the above is possible, untill someone says otherwise.

I have e-mailed Akai and got a good response, but still can’t get it to work.

Decided to post their response….In case it will help anyone else out in this domain

“Connect a MIDI out from the MPC to your MIDI interface and have Cubase listen to this MIDI input for all VST tracks.

Each track should listen to the same MIDI input but each on a separate channel. So if you are using MIDI out B on the MPC then you will need to be on a MIDI track on the MPC with a MIDI out channel chosen for B. i.e. 1B, 2B,3B, etc.

These channels match up in Cubase, so each individual track should trigger independently from each other”

If each new sound changes everything recorded then something is on the wrong channel or there are not individual instrument tracks running.

Iv’e followed these Instructions, but the current Instrument still overrides the previous Instrument. (I have to press the record active on the vst instrument track to hear the sound and piano also plays the baseline so to speak.

I’ve given up the ghost now on this idea as it’s easier to sample it via the digital connection….but I like to try and work things out

I have a good grasp of MIDI, as everything else in my system talks properly to each other, including programming the Q link controls to control VST Instruments, etc (Very good latency Response)….However I still don’t get the MIDI IN’s On The MPC……….ON a Midi Interface the Computer will list the ports if it’s multiple, but On The MPC If I’m on channel B Is that MIDI OUT Channel B and MIDI In Channel B…………………..Future O.S Upgrade would like to see a similar format used to present the effects routing.
