clearing the PGMs from needless sounds

hey

i got a question concerning cleaning up my PMG. lets say I got a program and all banks are full with sounds, in total 64. is there any option or function where I can see what sounds are in use, and which aren´t? that would be nice, cause I really need to keep my programs as small as possible, due to long loading time.

so, does anyone has a suggestion?

i ment, sounds that are in use in a sequence.

jeah for sure. this function i know. but what i ment is.... for example i load a pgm with 30 sounds, but in all sequences i only use maybe 12 sounds... the remaining are unsed...so is there any opportunity to differ between used and not used sounds? to my knowledge i don´t think so.... but you are the pros....

well, you could just create a new program and assign just the samples you need from the other programs. then save that new program and delete the unused ones.

Yep, always wanted that option in my XL, just to free up some pads and memory, especially when I was using multisampled programs. But never came up with an easy way of doing this other than just manually working out what wasn't used, deleting and purging

There is actually a workaround to this:

Go to the mixer screen and bring all the way down the volume of the pads you think you are not using. Now play your sequences. If you hear something is missed, then you need to go and search for it through the STEP MODE. If everything plays, then go purge those that you silenced. Continue with this process until you brought the song down to what you want to keep.

I know its quite a hassle to do that over and over again but this is the only short route I've discovered by now.

PS Don't forget to play through all your sequences and check that everything plays right.
