Im thinking of purchasing a used 3k from a store, and I wanted to know is there anyway where I can tell which OS is on the 3k. The 3k that im looking at is not the LE version so its an older model. I searched the form and couldnt find anything. I have a 1k now so im familiar with the mpc. Any help would be greatly appriciated.

yup and if its not 3.11 (which is necessary - better editing and quicker loads from zip) get a pc formatted floppy, download the OS from Akai, put it on there and put it in before you boot up.

Booting ANY operating system upgrade for the MPC3000 via floppy disk causes a reducton in the available user sequencer memory for that session where boot from a system floppy was successful.

If the MPC3000 doesn't have 3.11 in ROM then take it to a service centre and pay to have this done.

Along with reduction in available sequencer memory; booting from the floppy presents other potential use issues that I am not going to post here.

Make sure that 3.11 is in ROM.

potential issues how can u mention it but now not tell what they are?

Cuz people will get paranoid and start saying it always happens even though it is just a potential issue?

That's my guess.
