This whole discussion reminds me of one of my boys, whose initials happens to be "dp".
He was sporting a new era dodgers cap one day, and had customized it by getting his intials stitched on the side
of his fitted... Apparently he wasn't aware of the acronym either. We were clowning him all day after that, lol...

word and see what exile does when he sample off the radio shit can be ill cos u cath shit that u waould not normally dig for.

and the mp3's sound good enuff i can tell the difference neither can peeps who here the finish song after u flipped it tell the difference so its all good.

i'm not mr. crazy audiophile by any stretch of the imagination, i'm just fine with listening to my iphone because i can have hundreds of records in my pocket on the thing that i also do e-mail and voice and web with. it's convenience, and in that instance the loss of quality v. size for the mp3 is perfectly fine.

if you think there is no audible difference between a "flipped" mp3 and flipping the same sample off of wax, you're insane. i know plenty of people that can instantly tell if a dj is spining vinyl or serato, and we are talking in a club situation, loud as ****, hundreds of people making noise, drinking, etc.

it straight up sounds different. you might not care, and frankly, since half the people on this board will probably make beats for a little bit, in fruity loops off sampled mp3s, and then post them to their myspace where they will be listened to in even worse streaming quality, yes, it probably doesn't matter.

also, if these cats think new stuff is better than old, then why is a vintage vox amp worth way more than a new one? why is a vintage neumann mic work 12k and a reissue costs 2k? new product is often built shittier, in many many instances, out of cheaper lower quality components and often mass produced by machines or low wage low skilled factory workers rather than skilled engineers handwiring shit.

yep. i dont think most people care because like you said, we listen to most music in mp3's nowadays anyway and secondly most posters aren't in the music industry so their not trackin stuff out to the most professional of equipment to get it mixed and mastered by the greatest ear. don't knock the fl studio's though. its not the equipment, its the man behind it. how many times have you heard someone with an mpc make garbage beats! (omg, check youtube. its pathetic.) The monetary value of stuff is partial based on the fact that its not readily available anymore, making it more rare and ofter more sought after. that can in fact increase the worth of an older piece of equipment.

sampling mp3's sucks. quality is tin, llosses all that low end. takes the fun out of listening to records and digging. but, nothin will stop me from droppin a beat if i feel motivated. i have done it in cases where i hear something and im instantly motivated to drop a whole beat. other than that, it dont compare with diggin, searchin studying breaks and just hear that crusty good low end. so only use mp3 if ya absouluty have too. you ll feel much more accomplished in the end.

The thing I don't understand about the way people diss sampling from digital media (MP3's, APE, Lossless... ok... sampling from YouTube definitely SUX!!! ) and then they sample just from vinyl and then downgrade the sound to get that 12bit crunchy sound. WTF???

I'm stationed out in the desert, far away from my record collection back in England. Right about now, I'll take what I can get when it comes to listening/sampling music... even from/on my iPod.

i got a question. What if i get someone to go and find samples for me like kanye, just blaze, or 9th wonder? Does that make me less of a digger than someone who uses mp3s? What about if i get someone to find the samples and bring them to me as a rex file, chopped already, like marley marl? Is that worst than using mp3s? Just curious as to which one makes u less of a producer?
