Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

Normally i can start the mpc internally, but the screen stays blank and all the lights go on. Even when i try to start with a normal floppy-disk it doesn't work.

can someone please help

Do you have a MPC 2000 or XL?

Have you tried adjusting the contrast on the screen?

Does the floppy drive light come on at all when you are trying to boot?

I would open up the case and make sure the floppy drive power and data cables are still properly seated. Make sure your MPC is unplugged when you do this.

It's a 2000 not an xl.

Adjusting screen doesn't help, mpc just won't start booting.

And no the floppy drive light doesn' t come on when i try to boot, i will check the power and data cables first.

Thanks for the advice, hope it will work

Disconnect the floppy power and ribbon cable from the mainboard and try to boot.

That's the quickest way to tell if it's the cables, drive, or media related to that drive

If that doesn't do it, your mainboard is most likely shot.

You could send it to VST and try to have it re-flashed, but that is most likely not the case.

If you get really fed up, or you send it to them and that's not it, I'm snatching 2000's and XL's for donor units
