Using MPC2KXL with Tascam Digital Portastudio, for example.

I have an MPC2000XL and my friend is about to purchase a Tascam multi-track digital recording unit. I was wondering if it is possible to transfer songs, sequences, sounds, etc.. from the MPC to this unit? We want to use the Tascam for recording live instruments and then combine this with drums and samples from the MPC to make songs. Since I don't have the EB16 effects thing for my MPC, we want to put some effects on MPC stuff using the Tascam. Can we simply plug one machine into the other and just transfer the data or do we have to put stuff on CDs and do it the long way? Can we do this using the MIDI function? Are these machines compatible? Thanks very much for any help,

yes, just set each mpc track to play solo, then connect to tascam, arm a track on tascam to record, record and then add efx. bam. that is what a recorder is for, if it has midi in and out, sync the tascam to the mpc as the slave and it will record all the tracks 1 by 1 but will be 100% rock solid as far as timing goes.
